Denscombe (2014) har sitt ursprung i boken The Discovery of Grounded Theory. Abstract. The essential methods of grounded theory research, beginning with Glaser and Strauss's seminal work in 1967, are described. These methods include concurrent data collection and analysis, coding of data into concepts and categories, the use of interpretative frameworks, theoretical sampling, memoing, and the integration of categories into grounded theory

Grounded theory is a general methodology with systematic guidelines for gathering and analyzing data to generate middle‐range theory. The name grounded theory mirrors its fundamental premise that researchers can and should develop theory from rigorous analyses of empirical data Emergence. The Grounded Theory approach was first articulated by Glaser & Strauss in their 1967 book The Discovery of Grounded Theory.. This book was written at a time when researchers in sociology were questioning the assumptions of positivism. In many ways, this book can be read and understood as a response to positivistic approaches in sociology using grounded theory, a researcher can stay close to the data at all times in the analysis. This design was developed by sociologists Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss at the University of California San Francisco in the late 1960s. Three Types of Grounded Theory Designs Grounded theory research consists of three types of designs

Her formulation of grounded theory analysis is remarkable for its eclectic synthesis of what have been contentious approaches and for its clear connections to the variety of qualitative data analysis methods. I have used Dr. Charmaz's work to teach both general induction and specifically grounded theory methods Grounded theory can be challenging for the researcher as it requires an open mind to allow themes to emerge naturally rather than being imposed upon by the researcher when approaching social phenomenon. Often the researcher can be overly influenced by prior knowledge from the academic literature and needs t o be inductive and grounded in data in their method of inquiry (Searle 1999) In grounded theory research, this is a process theory_ it explains an educational process of events, activities, actions, and interactions that occur over time. Also, grounded theorist proceed through systematic procedure of collecting data, identifying categories (used synonymously with themes), connecting these categories, and forming a theory that explains the process As such, grounded theory can be described as an inductive method, or a form of inductive reasoning. Sociologists Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss popularized this method in the 1960s, which they and many others considered an antidote to the popularity of deductive theory, which is often speculative in nature, seemingly disconnected from the realities of social life, and may, in fact, go untested
